PANEL THEME: "Supply Chain Imperative: Strengthening Engagement With African American Suppliers"
It has long been evidenced that of the billions of dollars automotive manufacturers spend each year on goods and services, African American suppliers and other MBEs earn a small fraction. OEMs, in response, developed supplier diversity programs to help buttress their efforts. As the industry morphs into a new technologically advanced enterprise, it creates opportunities for automotive manufacturers to remain true to their stated mission of advancing the economic cause of historically marginalized people. Yet, that should not be done using absolute dollar spending but more on proportional spending. Automotive leaders will discuss how their companies are keeping supplier diversity initiatives in the forefront of their business practices.
