Robert Young is the group vice president of the Purchasing, Supplier Engineering Development and Cost Planning groups at Toyota Technical Center (TTC) based in York Township, Mich. TTC is Toyota’s North American R&D center and is a division of Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). In this position, Young is responsible for TMNA’s vehicle parts, materials procurement, and supplier development. In addition, Young is also an advisor to the TTC Corporate Strategy team.
Previously, Young was vice president of Vehicle Parts and Materials Purchasing. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the procurement of electrical, body, steel, and structural commodities for Toyota in North America.
Young joined Toyota in 1995 and progressed through a series of positions in the purchasing division including several buying roles.
Young earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana University.
